Profile
CRUSH (크러쉬), born Shin Hyo-seob, is a South Korean R&B singer-songwriter and record producer known for blending soul vocals with hip-hop rhythms, jazz-influenced harmony and contemporary pop. His individual recordings include full-length albums, independently credited singles and television soundtracks. Collaborations with other vocalists and rappers are an important part of his catalogue, but their featured or joint credits are preserved instead of being presented as solo-only performances.
Born on May 3, 1992, Crush began releasing original music in 2012, with early tracks such as Red Dress, before attracting a larger audience with Sometimes (가끔) in April 2014. His first full-length album, Crush On You, followed in June 2014. The laid-back grooves and direct phrasing of these songs helped establish a style that could connect Korean hip-hop and mainstream ballad listeners without losing its R&B character.
In 2016, Don’t Forget (잊어버리지마), featuring Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, offered an intimate message about cherishing shared memories. The same year, Crush recorded Beautiful for the hit drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (also called Goblin). That song became a widely recognized OST performance; it is not part of a separately released CRUSH studio album. The distinction matters because many listeners first encountered his voice through drama soundtracks rather than through his albums.
His second studio album, From Midnight To Sunrise (December 2019), explored the emotional passage from late-night solitude toward morning. By this time he had joined P NATION, where he continued producing a steady succession of studio projects and collaborations. The 2020 EP with HER highlighted his ability to trade lines with women vocalists; these tracks are artist collaborations, not songs performed by the guest singers alone. After completing mandatory alternative service, he returned with Rush Hour in September 2022, featuring j-hope of BTS. Crush remains the lead credited artist on the single, with j-hope as a featured contributor.
In November 2023, Crush released his third full-length album wonderego. Across 19 tracks, the project switches between the inward-looking “Wonder” perspective and the self-assured “Ego” side of his personality. The official video for Ego (미워) dramatizes those feelings visually. He also contributed the OST Love You With All My Heart to Queen of Tears in 2024, another example of his individually credited soundtrack work rather than a stand-alone studio album.
His six-song EP FANG arrived on August 28, 2025, led by UP ALL NITE featuring SUMIN. The record moves between richly layered R&B grooves and more understated arrangements while showcasing the production choices behind the songs. In February 2026, it earned R&B Album of the Year at the Korean Hip-hop Awards, while UP ALL NITE received R&B Track of the Year. These are individual artist music honors, not group awards.
On October 21, 2026, Crush returned with the digital single 삐그덕 (Seesaw) featuring IU. The song uses the small, awkward moments of a developing relationship as a metaphor for emotional balance. Crush wrote the lyrics and shared composition credits with haventseenyou; IU contributed featured vocals. An original MV was released through the Crush official channel the same day. The music was also tied to an exhibition collaboration with GROUNDSEESAW beginning October 23, while press interviews discussed the reunion of two artists who had appeared on each other’s concert stages in the past. The track is a Crush single featuring IU, not an IU independent solo release or an uncredited duet.
