Profile
FLARE U (플레어 유) is a two-member South Korean boy duo managed by FNC Entertainment. The lineup brings together Taiwanese vocalist CHUEI LI YU (최립우) and South Korean performer KANG WOO JIN (강우진). Both were contestants on Mnet’s BOYS II PLANET, where Chuei finished tenth and Kang sixteenth in the final ranking. Their performances on the programme led to a joint project centred on the complementary qualities of their voices and personalities.
The band’s name describes the moment when two separate sparks become one brighter light. The letter U refers to the listeners and fans who complete the connection. The official fandom name is U’RE (유어), confirmed by FNC on May 13, 2026. The duo debuted on that date with the six-track mini album YOUTH ERROR and its title single WAY 2 U. That record explores the awkward, heartfelt mistakes of young people coming to understand each other.
WAY 2 U combines bright melodic hooks with elements of hyperpop and PluggnB. The record also includes Hyper, Don’t Cry, MIRACLE, WOO-HOO and Playground. Before debuting, the duo performed at KCON Japan 2026, allowing audiences to see the developing vocal chemistry ahead of their first album.
On September 9, 2026, FLARE U introduced the YOUTH ERROR (Japan Edition), expanding its Japanese activities. The first major Korean comeback followed on October 14, 2026, just five months after the debut. The second mini album LOVEHOOD moves from friendship and youthful mistakes into the emotional surprises of first love. Its six tracks are Bloom, Hundred Nights, False Alarm, Madly in Love, Window View and Never Ever.
The title song, Bloom (너의 계절이 찾아와), uses warm retro-style synthpop, layered vocal harmony and changing textures to evoke the feeling of a new season arriving after a long winter. FNC released its full official MV on the same day as the album. In October interviews, both members described how their first comeback allowed them to develop the duo’s identity while preserving the youth-centred storytelling that introduced FLARE U.
Chuei also has a separate personal solo release that predates FLARE U: the single album SWEET DREAM of December 3, 2025, promoted with the official UxYOUxU music video. This must be kept separate from the shared FLARE U discography. Kang’s solo album debut has not been independently confirmed.
