NCT, short for Neo Culture Technology, launched in 2016 with a modular system built around multiple teams rather than a single fixed all-member lineup. NCT U changes its member combination by song and concept, while NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV and NCT WISH operate as the main fixed units.
In 2026 the NCT brand marked its tenth anniversary with the year-long NCT 2026 project under the slogan “Everything, All At Once, Neo.” SM Entertainment announced albums, tours, fan events, pop-ups and an exhibition across the active units. The current fixed-unit pool contains 23 unique members, with HAECHAN shared by NCT 127 and NCT DREAM.
The roster changed during the anniversary year. MARK concluded his NCT activities after his SM Entertainment contract ended in April 2026, while WINWIN concluded his NCT activities after his contract ended in July. TEN’s SM exclusive contract ended in April, but he stated that he would continue NCT and WayV activities under a separate arrangement.

10th-anniversary Seoul festival
NCT’s anniversary expanded into a month-long Seoul program including a Banpo fountain show, stage-costume exhibition and fashion-linked events.

NCT released its third full-group studio album, led by “Universe (Let’s Play Ball)” and “Beautiful.”

The umbrella NCT project received an Album Bonsang at the 35th Golden Disc Awards.
NCT 2020 Resonance
The 23-member project became a major commercial breakthrough, with Resonance Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 each surpassing one million copies.
NCT 2018 Empathy
The first large-scale NCT album brought the expanding project together through tracks including “BOSS,” “Baby Don’t Stop” and “Black on Black.”
NCT U opens the NCT brand
