Company overview
Put SEVENTEEN’s ‘VERY NICE’ next to TWS’s ‘plot twist’ and you can hear two quite different ideas of pop music. One is built for a crowd ready to sing along. The other catches the nervous excitement of a first meeting. PLEDIS Entertainment sits behind both stories, but it would be a mistake to imagine the groups share a single unchanging musical formula.
The company’s history stretches back to Son Dam-bi and After School, followed by Orange Caramel, NU’EST, SEVENTEEN and more. Some belong to the current roster; others are remembered through archived releases. This guide separates the two, explores the musicians behind the records, and explains what fans can realistically do if they visit Seoul.
Company, labels and artist relationships
PLEDIS is part of the HYBE music business, but the company has its own artist identity and catalogue. HYBE also owns or operates other labels, including BIGHIT MUSIC, BELIFT LAB and SOURCE MUSIC. A group does not belong to every label under the parent simply because a corporate website lists all the artists together. That is why SEVENTEEN and TWS belong under PLEDIS, while BTS, for example, belongs to BIGHIT MUSIC.
The distinction also matters for individual work. Members of a long-established group may release music as soloists or smaller units, and some performers build careers in acting or production alongside singing. Those activities should not be confused with a new debut or the formation of a separate agency. The dates and names on an album announcement are the simplest way to keep the relationships clear.
KWaveScope A–Z artist profiles
The links below lead to KWaveScope’s existing A–Z guides for PLEDIS’s two active groups. The wider company history includes solo performers, group subunits and former artists whose contracts have ended.
Current artists, subunits and former acts
PLEDIS’s official site retains earlier artists alongside its present-day performers. That is useful as a musical archive, but not every name on the page indicates a current exclusive contract. The following guide separates core artists from projects built around SEVENTEEN members and groups associated with the company’s earlier years.
| Artist or project | Relationship | What readers should know |
|---|---|---|
| SEVENTEEN | Current group | The thirteen-member boy group debuted in 2015 and works across group, individual and unit releases. |
| TWS | Current group | The six-member group debuted in January 2024 and is associated with the ‘boyhood pop’ concept. |
| HWANG MIN HYUN | Current individual artist | Solo singer and actor whose career also includes NU’EST and Wanna One. |
| BUMZU | Current individual artist | Singer, songwriter and producer with longstanding connections to PLEDIS recordings. |
| BSS / BOOSEOKSOON | SEVENTEEN unit | HOSHI, DK and SEUNGKWAN; three members of the existing group. |
| JEONGHAN × JOSHUA / JxJ | SEVENTEEN unit | The two members released their first mini album, DREAMSCAPE, on October 19, 2026. |
| S.COUPS × MINGYU | SEVENTEEN unit | The pairing debuted as a recording unit with HYPE VIBES in 2025. |
| DK × SEUNGKWAN | SEVENTEEN unit | A vocal pairing heard on the 2026 mini album SERENADE. |
| HOSHI × WOOZI | SEVENTEEN unit | Their 2025 single album BEAM highlighted a different collaboration within the band. |
| VERNON × THE 8 / V8 | SEVENTEEN unit | A two-member mini-album project documented in the official label catalogue. |
| AFTER SCHOOL | Historic group | An important part of the label’s early performance identity, but not a newly promoting group. |
| ORANGE CARAMEL | Historic subunit | An After School project known for playful concepts and strong visual character. |
| NU’EST | Historic group | Debuted in 2012 and later ended its full-group chapter at PLEDIS. |
| PRISTIN | Former group | Debuted in 2017 and officially disbanded in 2019. |
| fromis_9 | Former PLEDIS roster | Moved to PLEDIS in 2021; its exclusive contract with the label ended on December 31, 2024. |
| BAEKHO | Former individual contract | The former NU’EST singer ended his PLEDIS exclusive contract in 2025. |
An older official profile does not make a past act a present-day roster member. fromis_9 is a clear example: PLEDIS’s 2024 contract-end notice confirmed the final date, and the company subsequently adjusted the group’s official online services. A list that places fromis_9 with today’s active PLEDIS performers without that context would mislead readers.
SEVENTEEN: thirteen performers, three teams
SEVENTEEN debuted in May 2015, almost a decade before TWS. Its thirteen members perform in the hip-hop, vocal and performance teams, a structure that helps explain the group’s many creative combinations. The arrangement is not a wall around any one person’s talents. Members take on a broad range of recording, performance and songwriting roles, and unit projects offer space for different musical voices.
| Member | Team | Musical and unit context |
|---|---|---|
| S.COUPS | Hip-hop | Group leader; records as part of S.COUPS × MINGYU. |
| JEONGHAN | Vocal | Part of the JxJ project with JOSHUA. |
| JOSHUA | Vocal | Part of the 2026 JEONGHAN × JOSHUA duo. |
| JUN | Performance | Performer with individual recording and acting work. |
| HOSHI | Performance | Performance-team leader and member of BSS and HOSHI × WOOZI. |
| WONWOO | Hip-hop | Member of the main group, associated with the hip-hop team. |
| WOOZI | Vocal | Vocal-team leader and a key contributor to SEVENTEEN’s recording work. |
| THE 8 | Performance | Performer whose projects include V8 with VERNON. |
| MINGYU | Hip-hop | Member of the S.COUPS × MINGYU project. |
| DK | Vocal | Member of BSS and DK × SEUNGKWAN. |
| SEUNGKWAN | Vocal | Member of BSS and the DK × SEUNGKWAN pairing. |
| VERNON | Hip-hop | Member of the V8 partnership with THE 8. |
| DINO | Performance | The group’s youngest member; also active through individual projects. |
In July 2026, PLEDIS announced that all thirteen members had agreed to a second contract renewal. The wording was careful: signing was complete for members who were not currently carrying out military service, and the remaining members were expected to finish the process in accordance with their service circumstances. The announcement signals a shared commitment to SEVENTEEN’s future, not a claim that every member signed a document on the same day.
For listeners, the group is also best understood through songs that show different moods. ‘Adore U’ introduced a youthful charm, ‘VERY NICE’ turned an exuberant chorus into a concert staple, and ‘Don’t Wanna Cry’ brought a different emotional register. Later records expanded the palette again. One playlist cannot stand in for the full discography, but a small, carefully chosen starting point can help a new fan hear why the group became so widely recognized.
TWS: six members, a newer pop vocabulary
TWS debuted on January 22, 2024. PLEDIS described the group’s musical identity as ‘boyhood pop’, a term that highlights the excitement and awkwardness of growing up. Its introductory single ‘plot twist’ was not shaped like a SEVENTEEN concert anthem; it found energy in small social moments, especially the nerves around meeting someone for the first time.
| Member | Korean name | Group relationship |
|---|---|---|
| SHINYU | 신유 | Current TWS member. |
| DOHOON | 도훈 | Current TWS member. |
| YOUNGJAE | 영재 | Current TWS member. |
| HANJIN | 한진 | Current TWS member. |
| JIHOON | 지훈 | Current TWS member. |
| KYUNGMIN | 경민 | Current TWS member. |
TWS has developed its own performance language since the debut, with releases that revisit friendships, uncertainty and the thrill of a new beginning. The songs are polished, but their strongest ideas feel close to daily life. That is a useful contrast with the more sprawling catalogue of the group’s senior colleagues.
The next TWS record is already on the calendar. The second single album, TO US, is scheduled for November 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. KST. PLEDIS began pre-orders on October 7 and announced another physical edition for October 21. On this guide’s editorial date, the album is still upcoming, not yet a finished release available on streaming services.
Individual musicians and other creative voices
Hwang Min-hyun: an individual career beyond NU’EST
Hwang Min-hyun has one of the more interesting career paths associated with PLEDIS. Listeners first encountered him as a NU’EST member. He later joined the project group Wanna One before continuing with NU’EST and establishing a solo career that also includes acting. In the label’s current artist directory, he is presented as both a singer and an actor, reflecting those separate strands of his work.
His releases shouldn’t be confused with a NU’EST group comeback. The solo mini album Truth or Lie and the digital single OUR illustrate his own recording identity. Acting credits and television appearances also need their proper dates and titles. A former group connection explains part of an artist’s background, but it doesn’t mean that earlier group is promoting under the same management today.
BUMZU: music maker and performer
BUMZU is more than a name in a producer-credit column. He has released music as an individual performer and contributed to recordings by PLEDIS artists, including work connected with NU’EST and SEVENTEEN. His continued association with the company offers a thread running through several generations of its music.
It is tempting to describe a successful label as the work of one producer, but pop records rarely fit that explanation. Lyricists, composers, arrangers, engineers, instrumentalists and performers contribute different things. BUMZU is an important creative voice without being the sole author of every PLEDIS song. Reading track credits closely gives a better sense of how the recordings were actually made.
Company history and key milestones
PLEDIS began as a smaller independent agency before becoming part of the wider HYBE system. Its catalogue reflects that change, although a company’s ownership history is not the whole musical story. Debuts, artistic partnerships, group transitions and the emergence of newer performers all matter.
| Period | Milestone | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 2007–2009 | The business was founded under Han Sung-soo and developed its early solo and group activities, including Son Dam-bi and After School. | PLEDIS established its identity through strong performance-oriented acts. |
| 2010 | The present corporate entity was established; Orange Caramel debuted as an After School subunit. | A distinctive concept-driven unit joined the label’s catalogue. |
| 2012 | NU’EST debuted. | A new boy group brought a different style and a dedicated fan community. |
| 2015 | SEVENTEEN debuted in May. | Thirteen members and three internal teams became a defining part of the company’s identity. |
| 2017–2019 | PRISTIN debuted and later disbanded. | An influential chapter in the company’s earlier girl-group story. |
| 2020 | Big Hit Entertainment acquired a controlling stake in PLEDIS. | PLEDIS joined the business structure later branded as HYBE. |
| 2021 | SEVENTEEN renewed early; fromis_9 moved to PLEDIS management. | An established group secured continuity while the roster expanded. |
| 2024 | TWS debuted in January; fromis_9’s PLEDIS contract ended in December. | The label welcomed a new generation while another group’s agency chapter closed. |
| 2025 | SEVENTEEN marked ten years and pursued numerous unit projects. | The group’s catalogue broadened beyond full-group releases. |
| 2026 | SEVENTEEN agreed to a second renewal; newer group and unit releases continued. | A more mature roster balanced established names with fresh projects. |
Artists who helped shape PLEDIS
The most useful way to appreciate a label’s legacy is to listen. The songs that brought PLEDIS recognition at different points in its history are not interchangeable, and a past artist’s popularity does not prove they remain under contract. These suggested starting points make room for both the earlier catalogue and the current acts.
| Artist | Listening starting points | Historical or current context |
|---|---|---|
| Son Dam-bi | ‘Crazy’, ‘Saturday Night’ | Early solo-pop and dance music associated with PLEDIS. |
| After School | ‘Diva’, ‘Bang!’, ‘Because of You’ | A performance-focused second-generation group. |
| Orange Caramel | ‘Magic Girl’, ‘Catallena’ | The more theatrical side of the After School catalogue. |
| NU’EST | ‘FACE’, ‘BET BET’, ‘INSIDE OUT’ | A group with a long PLEDIS history and members who later followed different paths. |
| SEVENTEEN | ‘Adore U’, ‘VERY NICE’, ‘Don’t Wanna Cry’, ‘Super’ | The company’s most established active group. |
| PRISTIN | ‘WEE WOO’, ‘WE LIKE’ | A debut from 2017, followed by disbandment in 2019. |
| fromis_9 | ‘DM’, ‘Stay This Way’, ‘Supersonic’ | Promoted under PLEDIS through the end of 2024. |
| TWS | ‘plot twist’, ‘If I’m S, Can You Be My N?’, ‘OVERDRIVE’ | The six-member younger group. |
| Hwang Min-hyun | ‘Hidden Side’, ‘OUR’ | Solo music alongside a continuing acting career. |
| BUMZU | Solo recordings and PLEDIS production credits | Individual vocalist and behind-the-scenes collaborator. |
Consider the difference between After School and Orange Caramel. The first explored a broad set of performance concepts, while the second was instantly recognizable for its colourful, often comic ideas. They share a history, but not every listener would arrive at one from the other. Likewise, NU’EST’s body of work deserves to be heard on its own terms, not simply treated as a prelude to other careers.
fromis_9’s transition is especially well documented. The company announced that its exclusive contract with the group would end on December 31, 2024. Existing online material remained accessible in various forms, although publishing and membership arrangements changed. That distinction matters when a reader lands on an old artist page and assumes it reflects today’s management.
Significant 2026 developments
All thirteen SEVENTEEN members agree to continue
The July renewal announcement is more than a personnel update. SEVENTEEN has become a large musical project with concerts, solo activities, unit releases and military service to coordinate. An agreement by all thirteen to continue under PLEDIS means the group has a framework for future shared work. The notice carefully distinguished members already able to finish signing from those whose military-service circumstances required different timing.
It would be inaccurate, however, to interpret the agreement as a schedule promising an immediate thirteen-member tour or new full-group album. The company’s statement was about its ongoing partnership with the performers, not an announcement of every upcoming activity.
JEONGHAN × JOSHUA and DREAMSCAPE
October 19, 2026 brought the mini album DREAMSCAPE, the first record under the JEONGHAN × JOSHUA pairing. PLEDIS’s homepage placed it prominently among new album releases. A smaller unit gives two familiar members an opportunity to explore another combination of voices and themes without asking listeners to treat that combination as a wholly separate thirteen-member group.
A varied run of SEVENTEEN projects
BSS, HOSHI × WOOZI, S.COUPS × MINGYU, DK × SEUNGKWAN and VERNON × THE 8 illustrate the number of ways music can be released from inside SEVENTEEN. Projects differ in personnel, timing, musical focus and promotional strategy. When a new video appears, its actual artist credit and album name are more reliable than describing every upload as ‘SEVENTEEN’s comeback’.
TWS’s TO US scheduled for November
PLEDIS confirmed that TWS’s second single album TO US is due on November 2, 2026 at 6 p.m. in Korea. Pre-orders started on October 7, and another edition began taking orders on October 21. The pre-order notice is not a streaming announcement: on October 21, the release date is still in the future.
Production, songwriting and performance
The practical meaning of a self-producing reputation
SEVENTEEN has long been described as a self-producing group. That phrase points to real involvement by members in music and performance, but it shouldn’t be understood as a claim that no one outside the thirteen ever participates. PLEDIS releases involve a network of collaborators. The point is not that the group works in isolation; it is that members contribute meaningfully to shaping the finished work.
Why TWS sounds different
TWS’s musical vocabulary brings listeners closer to school-day anxieties, friendship and the small surprises of adolescence. That approach needs its own arrangement and visual language. The fact that the newer group shares an agency with a senior act can open opportunities for mentorship, but it does not remove the need for a sound that belongs to TWS.
The creative importance of units
SEVENTEEN’s units aren’t just a way to keep music coming while larger schedules are complicated. They also change the balance of performers in a song. A vocal duo can explore restraint and harmony, while a performance-driven pairing might give more space to movement and rhythm. Listeners who start with one full-group single can learn a great deal about the members by following those projects.
How big is PLEDIS Entertainment?
KRW 288.5 billion
KRW 69.7 billion
The publicly reported legal-company financial information places PLEDIS Entertainment’s 2025 revenue at approximately KRW 288.48 billion and operating profit at about KRW 69.68 billion. The corresponding 2024 figures were roughly KRW 340.37 billion in revenue and KRW 79.20 billion in operating profit. These are rounded financial-year figures for PLEDIS, not an estimate of SEVENTEEN’s income or the revenue of the entire HYBE group.
Understanding the reporting level is essential. HYBE’s consolidated accounts include several labels and associated businesses. The figures for a specific subsidiary describe a different accounting entity and should not be added casually to parent-company totals or attributed to an individual group’s tours. Artist careers are a major part of a label’s activity, but corporate revenue is not a direct measure of a singer’s personal earnings.
The figures relate to the financial year ended December 31, 2025, and are presented in Korean won. Differences between consolidated and separate accounts, year-to-year operating schedules and the accounting treatment of tours can all change comparisons. Together, these figures give readers a useful picture of PLEDIS’s financial scale.
Headquarters address and Google Maps
English: 42 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Korean for map apps and taxis: 서울특별시 용산구 한강대로 42
Arriving by subway
The office is in Yongsan, near Sinyongsan Station on Subway Line 4 and the wider transport links at Yongsan Station. A map app is the simplest way to check the walking route from your chosen exit. Save the Korean address before travelling and look up current station-accessibility details if you need a step-free journey.
The address is often associated with the HYBE headquarters. This is understandable because PLEDIS is part of the larger HYBE organization, but it is still important to separate a legal office address from an artist schedule. A building shown in an agency profile isn’t a promise that performers will be present, and rehearsal rooms, staff workplaces and recording areas are not public attractions.
What visitors should know
Fans can admire a company’s history without expecting its working premises to function as a visitor centre. Observe local rules when taking photographs outside, do not block entrances or delivery areas and respect other visitors and staff. A busy street near a music label may be familiar from fan travel guides, but public access does not extend to backstage or office floors.
Special exhibitions, official stores and fan events are separate. Their locations, booking policies, identification requirements and opening times are announced for the individual event. Never assume an old pop-up is permanent or that an event advertised by another HYBE label is located at PLEDIS’s office.
Auditions: how to apply to PLEDIS
PLEDIS runs an online audition portal. As of October 2026, the portal stated that applicants must have been born in 2008 or later. Categories included singing, dancing, rap, acting, instruments, visuals and producing, among other ways of demonstrating talent. Anyone interested in applying should check the current official criteria rather than relying on an archived social-media graphic.
Applicants are asked for a front-facing photo, a personal introduction video longer than thirty seconds and material showing their chosen specialty. The instructions recommend clear, well-lit footage without filters or heavy alterations that conceal the applicant’s actual appearance or performance. When submitting a URL to material on a sharing service, the viewing permissions must allow the agency to open it.
Applications should go only through the official portal at PLEDIS AUDITION ↗. The company identifies an authorized Weibo route for applications in China and advises against other unofficial channels. Minors should involve a parent or guardian in decisions about personal data, contacts and possible travel.
A practical audition checklist
- Check that your birth year and application category satisfy the current eligibility rules.
- Prepare a natural front-facing photo and a clearly audible introduction video.
- Choose a performance that shows a genuine strength instead of relying on editing effects.
- Make sure uploaded files and outside links can be opened by the intended reviewers.
- Use the official form and protect personal documents from unknown audition accounts.
Frequently asked questions
Is PLEDIS Entertainment the same thing as HYBE?
No. PLEDIS is part of the HYBE corporate family, but it is a separate music label with its own artist roster and releases. HYBE also includes other labels; a group managed by one subsidiary does not automatically become an artist of all of them.
Who are the main PLEDIS artists in October 2026?
The label’s current principal names include SEVENTEEN, TWS, Hwang Min-hyun and BUMZU. Older groups such as After School and NU’EST also appear in the company’s historical archive. Group members and unit projects should be identified by their actual recording credits.
Did all thirteen SEVENTEEN members renew their PLEDIS contracts?
PLEDIS said in July 2026 that all thirteen agreed to a second renewal. The company also noted that members completing military service would finalize paperwork in line with their service circumstances. The statement concerned the group’s future partnership.
What is the difference between SEVENTEEN and BSS?
SEVENTEEN is the thirteen-member group. BSS, also called BooSeokSoon, is the trio of HOSHI, DK and SEUNGKWAN. Its releases are unit work by existing members, not the debut of a separate full-sized group.
Are NU’EST and fromis_9 still signed as PLEDIS groups?
No. NU’EST is part of PLEDIS’s historical catalogue, while fromis_9’s exclusive PLEDIS agreement ended on December 31, 2024. Old online archives may remain accessible after contracts and service arrangements change.
When does TWS release TO US?
TWS’s second single album TO US is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. KST. Pre-orders opened on October 7, and the Beside edition was offered for pre-order from October 21. On the date of this guide, the music has not yet been released.
Can fans enter the PLEDIS office in Seoul?
The published address is 42 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It is an active workplace, not a public studio tour. Official events may have separate venues, admission requirements and tickets.
Can international performers apply for an audition?
PLEDIS’s official online audition portal lists application requirements and accepts submissions within its current eligibility conditions. It describes applicants born in or after 2008 as eligible at this review date. Applicants should always recheck the official portal before submitting.
Are financial results the same as SEVENTEEN’s concert revenue?
No. Company revenue and operating profit are accounting results covering broader operations. The figures provided in this guide apply to the PLEDIS legal entity, not directly to the group or its members, and not to HYBE’s whole business.

Looking ahead
PLEDIS is now managing two particularly different moments in group careers. SEVENTEEN is more than a decade into its work and can explore individual and unit ideas without abandoning its larger identity. TWS is still defining what its sound can become after a successful introduction. Their shared label offers a thread of continuity, but their appeal depends on keeping their own voices.
The company also has a longer history through After School, NU’EST, other former performers, and creative collaborators such as BUMZU. Keeping those chapters separate from the present-day roster doesn’t diminish them. It makes the history more meaningful, showing how ideas and artists changed over time.
Editorial check: October 21, 2026. Artist contracts, album dates, auditions and visitor policies can change. This guide distinguishes PLEDIS from HYBE’s consolidated group and presents rounded financial figures for the label itself.
