ILLIT’s ‘You’re Under Arrest’ Tops Spotify Global Song Debuts, Reaches No. 3 in U.S.

November 5, 2026 | K-POP News | Global Music Charts

ILLIT’s “You’re Under Arrest” has topped Spotify’s Global Top Song Debuts chart, with the title track also taking No. 3 on the U.S. edition. The five-member group’s new music is reaching listeners well beyond Korea, and a second song from the same album is joining the celebration.

The result was disclosed on November 3 and confirmed by BELIFT LAB on November 4. It covers Spotify’s new-song debut rankings for October 30–November 1, rather than the platform’s main Daily Top Songs Global chart. That distinction is important: No. 1 on Top Song Debuts is not the same as No. 1 among all songs streamed worldwide.

‘You’re Under Arrest’ leads Spotify’s new-song rankings

The title track from ILLIT’s fifth mini-album, BREAK EVEN, placed first globally and third in the United States. Its fellow album track “Pop” also made a notable opening, landing at No. 4 on the global list and No. 7 in the U.S. Two songs from the same release therefore finished inside the global Top Five for debuts.

“Pop” reaching the chart without its own music video or separate promotional push is particularly interesting. It suggests that listeners who came for the title track also explored the other songs on the album. That is a different kind of success from a viral single played in isolation.

More than 10 million streams in the first week

Released on October 26, “You’re Under Arrest” surpassed 10 million cumulative Spotify streams during its first seven days, according to reports of BELIFT LAB’s figures. It was the group’s second-fastest song to hit that milestone, behind their debut hit “Magnetic.”

The song also entered Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global ranking on its release date. In the first 24 hours, it drew more than 1.3 million streams, and the track appeared on the U.S. daily ranking as well. Those daily chart placements are separate from the Top Song Debuts result that headlines this story.

The sound and story behind ‘BREAK EVEN’

The album’s title borrows a business term for the point at which gains and losses balance out. In ILLIT’s telling, however, it describes a relationship in which affection has been given without a clear answer in return. Instead of waiting indefinitely, the narrator decides to walk away.

“You’re Under Arrest” turns that frustration into something unexpectedly playful. A repeating whistle hook gives the electro-pop song its immediate identity, while punchy synths and spirited vocals keep its energy moving. The lyrics frame misleading kindness as evidence in a lighthearted case against someone who has sent mixed signals.

The whistle motif carries into the choreography, making the song easy to recognize in a short performance clip. It also gives fans a simple gesture to echo in their own videos—one reason the track fits so naturally into short-form dance culture.

Apple Music and the wider comeback

On Apple Music’s Today’s Top 100: Global chart, the title track moved from No. 67 on October 27 to No. 8 by November 2. That rise gives the Spotify debut numbers additional context, although each service uses its own methodology and the rankings should not be directly compared.

The album’s opening has also brought renewed attention to ILLIT’s increasingly confident stage presence. A quick hook can generate a strong first impression, but how listeners respond to the rest of a mini-album often says more about the project as a whole. “Pop” entering the debut chart alongside the title track makes that wider interest worth watching.

What this chart milestone really tells us

Top Song Debuts measures how strongly newly released tracks perform within a particular window. It is a useful snapshot of early interest, not a prediction of where the songs will rank a month later. For ILLIT, however, this week’s combination of a No. 1 title track and a global Top Five album cut signals a promising start.
