PLAVE Tops Billboard Top Album Sales and World Albums With HYPERDRIVE

November 2, 2026 | K-POP News | U.S. Charts · Virtual Artists

Virtual K-pop group PLAVE topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales and World Albums charts with its fifth mini album, HYPERDRIVE. The No. 1 rankings appear on the charts dated October 31, 2026, with the results reported on October 27. The album also debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard 200, marking the five-member group’s first top-40 entry on the main U.S. album chart.

The two No. 1 rankings reflect different measures of success. Top Album Sales tracks traditional album sales in the United States, while World Albums ranks eligible releases in the world-music category. PLAVE led both charts for the first time. By comparison, the Billboard 200 also counts streaming-equivalent consumption, which explains why HYPERDRIVE ranked differently on that chart.

PLAVE HYPERDRIVE Billboard results: two album chart No. 1s

Billboard’s October 31 charts highlight PLAVE’s reach across several different measures of music consumption in the United States. In addition to leading Top Album Sales and World Albums, the group returned to the Emerging Artists chart at No. 1 and reached a new personal best of No. 25 on the Artist 100.

Billboard chartRankWhat it measures
Top Album SalesNo. 1Traditional album sales in the United States
World AlbumsNo. 1Performance of eligible world-music albums
Billboard 200No. 31Album-equivalent consumption, including streaming
Emerging ArtistsNo. 1Artist performance across multiple Billboard rankings
Artist 100No. 25Overall artist activity across major U.S. chart measures
Independent AlbumsNo. 4Eligible independently distributed albums

All positions above refer to the October 31, 2026 chart week. They are not separate awards ceremonies or multiple Billboard 200 victories. PLAVE has reached No. 31 on the Billboard 200, not No. 1 on that overall albums chart.

From No. 145 to No. 31 on the Billboard 200

HYPERDRIVE marks PLAVE’s second appearance on the Billboard 200. Its previous release, Caligo Pt. 2, debuted at No. 145 in spring 2026. By entering at No. 31, the new album debuted 114 places higher and secured the group’s first top-40 appearance.

PLAVE’s momentum began before the U.S. rankings were announced. According to South Korea’s Hanteo Chart, the physical edition of HYPERDRIVE sold 1,322,973 copies in its first week, October 13–19. That exceeded the group’s previous first-week record of 1,255,801 for Caligo Pt. 2.

The figures should not be confused: Hanteo’s 1.32 million first-week sales reflect its own tracking methodology and are not U.S. sales figures. Billboard’s Top Album Sales No. 1 ranking does not mean the group sold 1.32 million copies in the United States.

Star Trace reaches Billboard’s global song charts

The album’s title track, “Star Trace,” also appeared on Billboard’s global song charts. In the October 31 chart week, it reached No. 32 on Global Excl. U.S. and No. 84 on the Global 200. Other tracks from HYPERDRIVE, including “GGUN,” “Sweet Rain,” “The Answer Is Yes” and “Rewind,” also entered Global Excl. U.S.

Released digitally on October 12, with physical editions following on October 13, HYPERDRIVE explores dance-pop, R&B, rock and bossa nova. Its title track is an EDM-based dance-pop song built around an image of lasting connection between the members and their fans, known as PLLI.

The next step: PLAVE’s Los Angeles concert

The Billboard results arrive during PLAVE’s KEEP IT MANIC world tour. Following stops in Singapore, Taipei and Macao, the group is scheduled to meet U.S. fans in Los Angeles on November 14. PLAVE performs through real-time motion-captured virtual avatars, and its U.S. chart results add to the group’s international milestones. The rankings do not, however, provide a count of its individual U.S. listeners or concertgoers.
