TWICE’s Jihyo is starting a new chapter as an independent artist. On October 21, she announced that she had ended her long relationship with JYP Entertainment and established a new company, EMITHAUS, for her individual activities. The change affects her personal management, not her membership in TWICE.
Twenty-one years with JYP
Jihyo reflected on the 21 years she spent with JYP, a relationship that began when she was a child and continued through training, debut and a global career. In a handwritten letter, she expressed appreciation for the people who had worked with her over that time and spoke about wanting to explore new possibilities.
What EMITHAUS means
EMITHAUS will provide a new home for Jihyo’s individual career. Its establishment is an important professional decision, but the announcement did not provide a firm schedule for a new solo album or tour. Such future plans should be reported when Jihyo or her representatives make them official.
Jihyo remains a member of TWICE
This distinction is the key to the story. Leaving JYP Entertainment as an individual artist is not the same thing as leaving TWICE. Jihyo has said she will continue group activities, preserving a connection with the act she has helped lead for years while organizing her solo work separately.
A different kind of next step
For established performers, changes in management can create space for new choices. Exactly how EMITHAUS will operate remains to be seen, and it would be premature to assume particular partnerships or releases. For now, Jihyo’s decision combines greater individual independence with a clear commitment to the group.
