Profile
Solar is the stage name of Kim Yongsun, MAMAMOO’s leader and main vocalist. Her bright, forceful delivery is a central part of the quartet’s sound, while her solo recordings give her room to shape a performance from beginning to end.
Her solo catalogue moves between different approaches to singing and performance. SPIT IT OUT introduced her official solo debut in 2020; FACE followed with HONEY in 2022; and COLOURS broadened the palette in 2024. The sequence is a useful introduction to how she develops a recognisable voice without staying with one production style.
Her work also extends to the personal YouTube channel solarsido, where challenges, conversations and everyday projects offer a different view of her interests. MAMAMOO+ with Moon Byul is a separate two-member collaboration, alongside her solo releases and full-group work.
The more recent catalogue includes WANT and Floating Free in 2025, followed by Your Own Star in March 2026. Her official RBW Japan profile also records the 2025 Solaris Asia concerts, showing how her solo work has developed into a touring repertoire.
