Red Velvet is a South Korean group whose five-member lineup consists of IRENE, SEULGI, WENDY, JOY and YERI. It debuted with Happiness in August 2014 as a quartet; Yeri joined in 2015 for Ice Cream Cake. The group’s name captures a useful way of hearing its catalogue: the bright, energetic Red side and the smoother, more atmospheric Velvet side often meet within the same record.

Songs such as Red Flavor, Bad Boy, Psycho and Feel My Rhythm show the range between buoyant pop and more layered R&B-influenced arrangements. Their harmonies are a central part of that sound, alongside choreography and visually elaborate concepts. The Japanese catalogue includes the mini albums #Cookie Jar and SAPPY and the full-length Bloom.

The group released Chill Kill in 2023 and Cosmic in 2024. Velvet Summer followed on August 3, 2026, with the title song Surfin’ Boy. That record is a full-group release; IRENE & SEULGI’s separate unit recordings and the members’ solo releases belong to different parts of the discography.

Management also needs that distinction. Red Velvet’s group activities continue with SM Entertainment, while individual contracts have changed for some members. Wendy moved to ASND and Yeri to Blitzway Entertainment in 2025 without leaving the group. The member pages therefore distinguish group affiliation from individual management instead of interpreting an agency change as a lineup change.

Each member has a separate creative path, including solo music, acting and the IRENE & SEULGI unit. The directory below links those individual histories back to the five-member group. Fans are known as ReVeluv.
